Helsinki Beer Festival 2008
The 11th Helsinki Beer Festival will be held during the weekend of April 11 through April 12. Once again the Cable Factory's Merikaapelihalli in downtown Helsinki will be filled with life when eager beer aficionados, industry folks and members of the public alike, congregate there.
The Helsinki Beer Festival has truly cemented its place as Finland's premier celebration of the golden beverage but it doesn't stop there. Apart from the multitude of different beers you'll find there a wide range of ciders and an impressive selection of quality whiskies. Not to mention the fantastic festival food offered by local restaurants and caterers! All kinds of festival merchandize will also be on sale.
As part of the festival, there is a competition for Best Beer, Best Cider and Whisky of the Year. This year's competition jury will be presided by well known beer connoisseur, journalist and the festival´s guest of honour Jussi Rokka.
This year's beer theme deals with Danish microbreweries. The Danish beer culture has been enriched by the strong growth in the number of microbreweries - during the last five years this number has almost reached the 100 mark. A highly interesting selection of these new products will be presented at the Helsinki Beer Festival.
